The Pearl Theater is excited to present the sizzling Latin contemporary jazz music of Barry Aiken & North Point at The Pearl Theater on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 7:00 pm. Barry Aiken, the Coeur d’Alene based composer & keyboardist has a reputation for high energy performances and has generated an ever growing and loyal fan base touring throughout Canada and the U.S. Along the way he formed the dynamic group North Point, pushing the genre of Contemporary Latin Jazz into uncharted waters with a mix that embraces uptempo beats, driving rhythms and a smoky salsa sound.

A little string, a little piano and a good amount of drums all work together to create the blend of this band’s signature sound. All the players are inspired and the originals are worth as much attention as the familiar favorites from artists such as Sting and Santana. Aiken plays the keyboard masterfully, with professional musicians Brett DePew on drums, Roxy McDaniel on bass, and Lane Sumner on guitar. While they sometimes all vocally contribute to the music, Honduran vocalist Luisa Tabora shines as the main voice of the group- singing in English, Spanish and sometimes even Portuguese. Played right, played tight, this group is must for any jazz fan that appreciates a bit of international flavor right here in our very own Pearl Theater.

Barry Aiken has written music for ESPN, Regal Cinemas, and The History Channel, and has performed on the CBS Early Show with pop star Gino Vannelli. His CD release “Balboa Park” has been play listed with international contemporary and mainstream jazz stations. Barry is currently working on a new CD with North Point and is teaching jazz piano at both North Idaho College and at his own Bare Mic. Music Studios.

Tickets are $10 General and $9 for Pearl Theater Members, and are available at Bonners Books and Mountain Mike’s in Bonners Ferry, Eve’s Leaves in Sandpoint, and at the door. The Pearl Theater is located on 7160 Ash St. in Bonners Ferry just south of the casino. Turn east off of Highway 95 and watch for the steeple! We look forward to seeing you at The Pearl Theater!
